What is IPTV?
IPTV is the delivery of television and video over internet protocol (IP) networks instead of terrestrial, cable or satellite. It is a technology; whether a service is lawful depends on who provides the stream and under which licence.
Four parts
- Broadcaster or provider: the party that offers the content under a licence (operators, broadcasters, people streaming their own archive).
- List or API: methods such as an M3U list or the Xtream Codes API that carry the addresses of the streams.
- Program guide: EPG/XMLTV data that shows the broadcast schedule.
- Player app: the software that opens the list and shows the streams on screen. Emileyt IPTV Player is in this category.
What does a player do, and what does it not do?
- It reads the list, shows channels, movies and series in an organised way and plays the stream.
- It does not provide content, lists or subscriptions, and it does not check the licence of the content.
Where to start?
You can use the app with a link or details you received from your provider. See How to use for the steps.
